A 2-Day Workshop for Editors
About the Workshop:
The workshop was held on April 29 and 30, 2022 over Zoom. The purpose of this workshop was to guide editors through the process of editing documents in a systematic manner. Editing is serious work and there are a number of aspects that need to be addressed while editing a document. During the workshop, we will look at some key areas that editors must look at, how to use style guides, and how to work with authors and retain their voice. The biggest takeaway will be the checklist for editors which will help them do their edits in a systematic manner. Finally, in-class assignments will help incorporate the learnings from the workshop.
Focus of the Workshop:
A thorough edit of any document takes it one step further in its journey toward being published. In this workshop, we will look at what goes into editing a variety of documents. We will go through the editing options on Windows – track change mode, comments, etc. – and how these can be used to effectively edit a document.
- This workshop will focus on the following topics:
- Language, grammar, punctuation, and usage
- Structure and formatting issues
- How to comment/red-flag any issues in the document
