About the Workshop:
The academic community evaluates the success and advancement primarily on the basis of quality of research publications an academician has published in quality journals. Academics from developing nations, on the other hand, are at a disadvantage because they often struggle with publication due to a lack of writing expertise and instruction during the data collection and publication processes.
To further improve these abilities, SkillsEdge hosted a ‘Manuscript Writing’ Workshop. The workshop was intended to provide academics with the knowledge and resources necessary to transform their work into publishable content and to maximize the possibility of a manuscript being accepted for publication in a prestigious journal.
The workshop was held from June 24-27, 2021 over Zoom. Our aim was to enable research scholars and faculty working in the field of Management (Social Sciences) to craft and develop high-quality manuscripts. The purpose of the workshop was to help participants develop manuscripts that can be taken forward for publication in high-quality journals. The workshop included presentations by workshop faculty as well as discussions with participants on their manuscripts.
Focus of the Workshop:
This workshop focused on the following topics:
- Crafting and conducting high quality research.
- Guidelines and tips to keep in mind when developing the different sections of a good manuscript (such as ‘Introduction’, ‘Literature Review and Hypotheses’, ‘Methods’, ‘Results’, ‘Discussion’, and ‘Conclusion’ sections).
- Demonstration of citation management software (Mendeley).
- Language issues, including grammar, to keep in mind when developing manuscripts; when you should get your manuscript professionally edited.
- Tips on managing the review process and how to succeed in targeting good-quality journals.
- Hands-on exercises on reading and writing English, and effective introduction, literature review methods, and discussion sections of a manuscript.
- Opportunity to seek specific inputs on your manuscripts from workshop faculty.
The workshop was conducted in a practice-oriented manner where participants will be provided with the theoretical understanding of issues that are part of writing high-quality manuscripts. They were provided with articles to help them understand the basics of the concepts discussed in the workshop.
